I'm gonna use it for my background anyway hope you slept well. Love you. You're the best. Can't wait to see you the Emojis in the middle of the morning I know two days I can't wait but yeah, the emojis in the middle of the night were because I woke up so horny for you that my cock was just throbbing for like hours and I would Laying on my side like I've kind of explained like with it I've pushed up under me and I move around and it felt so good and then I rolled over and stroke a little oh my God God, I'm getting well. I am now hard. I can't. Oh I am gonna be such a quick date on this Sunday. It can't take much we're gonna have to have a couple drinks to help me control myself anyway we still get two days to go. I cannot wait to see you if you can't tell. But I hope you slept well and I hope you have a great day even though it's a stupid shitty in the office day. I would just call in sick if I fuck it. Anyway, I can't wait to talk to you soon
[2026-04-10 08:01:00] Dave: This is actually how I do it every day, specifically to strengthen the whole balance chain. I couldn’t do that AT ALL after my hip surgery.
[2026-04-10 08:01:00] Dave: This is actually how I do it every day, specifically to strengthen the whole balance chain. I couldn’t do that AT ALL after my hip surgery.
[2026-04-10 08:01:00] Sam Willis: I don’t think I can do that lol
[2026-04-10 08:03:00] Sam Willis: Ok gotta get ready for work. Listen to your message soon last night was supppperrrrr rough. Layla had/has a stomach bug, so I’m not kidding when I say that I woke up 5-6 times last night and had to take her outside 😭
[2026-04-10 08:04:00] Dave: Ugh, that’s awful
[2026-04-10 08:04:00] Dave: How are her mouth holes doing?
[2026-04-10 08:06:00] Sam Willis: I haven’t even looked at them 🫣😬
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Dave: Oh.. I guess that won’t make sense until you listen to my vm
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Sam Willis: That is badass!!!!
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Sam Willis: I saw the transcript
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Sam Willis: How cool!!
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Dave: Ahh
[2026-04-10 08:07:00] Dave: Do you read the whole tranny?
[2026-04-10 08:08:00] Dave: I never do. I sometimes glance at whatever is visible but not even always that
[2026-04-10 08:59:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: Good morning I am determined to be motivated today and actually knock out a whole bunch of work if I'm going to the office then I'm gonna actually do this shit myself That's why I have like five meetings today so that is fun not I cannot wait to see you. I got a little notification that I need to check in to the hotel room so hopefully I can request early check-in. Then now once I get to the office. I kind of forgot to look at it last night, but anyway, I am very excited Yeah I just can't wait to get to the hotel room and sleep so then I am chipper whenever I see you although I'll probably be too fucking excited I won't be able to nap anyway, which is gonna be so annoying so Love you But I love that design that's very creative and adorable and that's like catchy I like it. What made you think of that? How are you so creative? It's honestly kind of annoying but I also love that you said tranny so yeah whenever I can't actually listen to your message. For a while, then I always read the transcription like yeah some of the words are fucked up, but I know my words are more fucked up than then yours Apple has no idea what the fuck I'm trying to say But yeah, that at least helps me get the shit so then if there's like something crazy going on then I can kinda like respond based off of the transcript you now It was a rough night, but what do you have going on tonight and tomorrow and then I already know what you have going on on Sunday but I am getting a facial started at six so I'm very excited about that and it's like the place where you lay down and they give you a weighted blanket and you take off your shoes and you're just you're laying there and it's so pampering might fall asleep so anyway All right well also on the list is getting me a fucking energy drink today that's for damn sure But happy Friday talk to you soon
[2026-04-10 09:11:00] Dave: Hell yeah! Do the things!
[2026-04-10 09:11:00] Dave: You and your Friday meetings ugh
[2026-04-10 09:11:00] Dave: Hehehe eeeeee so excited
[2026-04-10 09:12:00] Dave: I was wondering if you’d actually be able to sleep
[2026-04-10 09:13:00] Dave: lol… tranny… and idek how I got to that lv leather idea
[2026-04-10 09:16:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Oh, I'm so glad that you're motivated today. That sounds great. I Don't remember what I was gonna say, cause I think I answered everything And text So if you read the voice message, do you still then listen to it? Yeah, I never read them. I just wait and. I don't want to spoil it I guess I don't know plus It's always so fucked up even a bother for that reason the translation transcription is Yeah, just packing up some orders right now I don't know how I got that Louis Vuitton, flashlight, leather idea, but the site design has like one of those backgrounds that kind of scrolls scroll like your items objects whatever scroll over it I didn't like what they had there so I was trying to find something to think of something and I really can't remember how I got it. I guess it just popped into my head. Yeah Yeah, I did that so yeah nothing. Nothing going on this weekend. Just the usual. Getting ready for Sunday, but I can't wait either and get so excited and yeah, I figured you probably wouldn't even be able to sleep, but hopefully you could get a couple hours Every shit if not, we can snuggle up and take a nap when I get there. I'm fine with that too. Yeah, I guess that's it. I take Emerson to work here in a few minutes and then shipping place so I guess I'll join the stupid. See what we call from the mobile. I'll talk to you soon bye
[2026-04-10 09:18:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: OK, I haven't listened to your message yet but I just got it. I'm making an observation about these fucking Friday morning drivers and honestly they're more annoying than every other day and I decided my theory is because Monday through Thursday. We all have the same fucking goal we're all trying to get to work and get there as soon as we can and be done and out of this traffic but these motherfuckers act like they have nothing to fucking do today. They're just like. Let me drive across the state you know go on a little day trip fucking I don't know what these bitches are doing, but like nobody is maintaining a consistent speed and they're all in the fucking left lane when they shouldn't be in everybody's fucking annoying me it is past night. OK I'm gonna listen to you.
[2026-04-10 09:19:00] Dave: Hmmm, interesting.. I haven’t thought about that
[2026-04-10 09:19:00] Dave: Omg! Inconsistent speed is my biggest pet peeve
[2026-04-10 09:19:00] Sam Willis: It’s soooo bad
[2026-04-10 09:19:00] Sam Willis: Of course I still listen to every voice message
[2026-04-10 09:19:00] Sam Willis: Hearing your voice is the best part!

[2026-04-10 10:14:00] Dave: Whatever
[2026-04-10 10:14:00] Sam Willis: Hahaha stopppp
[2026-04-10 10:15:00] Sam Willis: I’m putting my phone away. You make me laugh! Or stupid smile.

[2026-04-10 10:37:00] Sam Willis: What if we ran into like the most unsuspecting coworker. Like….
[2026-04-10 10:37:00] Sam Willis: Hmmmm
[2026-04-10 10:37:00] Sam Willis: Who would be the most crazy to see at a sex store that works in Southlake

[2026-04-10 10:52:00] Sam Willis: When were you last in one?!?
[2026-04-10 10:53:00] Dave: There’s an amazing one I stopped at one time airfield. It’s enormous and has more shit than I’ve ever seen in one.
[2026-04-10 10:53:00] Dave: That one was probably a year ago after I dropped Juliet off at the airport.
[2026-04-10 10:54:00] Dave: I’ve been in local ones since then for business related reasons though.
[2026-04-10 10:54:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 10:54:00] Dave: lol

[2026-04-10 10:56:00] Sam Willis: Are you bringing it?
[2026-04-10 10:56:00] Dave: Yeah
[2026-04-10 10:56:00] Dave: So what else you got on the list?
[2026-04-10 10:56:00] Dave: 😈
[2026-04-10 10:59:00] Sam Willis: Well I’m gonna bring the crescendo but I’ll check out dildos too, and then a butt plug!
[2026-04-10 10:59:00] Sam Willis: What else should I add?? ☺️
[2026-04-10 11:01:00] Dave: BP, dildo… if I can find this place on the map we can have a great time looking through stuff - and who knows what else we’ll come up with 🤭
[2026-04-10 11:01:00] Dave: Want to bring a vibrator?
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Sam Willis: That’s the crescendo!
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Dave: In case all other means of getting you off is unsuccessful
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Dave: Oh ok
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Sam Willis: Sir I’m getting off multiple times.
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Sam Willis: It will be very successful 😂
[2026-04-10 11:02:00] Dave: 🫠
[2026-04-10 11:03:00] Sam Willis: We should be more focused on getting YOU off!
[2026-04-10 11:03:00] Dave: Oh no. That won’t be a problem lol
[2026-04-10 11:22:00] Sam Willis: Hahahaha
[2026-04-10 11:22:00] Sam Willis: Yasssss
[2026-04-10 11:22:00] Dave: I’ve been SO FUCKIN HORNY since our last sexting sesh 🥵
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Dave: Like, constantly
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Sam Willis: When was our last sexting sesh? Yesterday?
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Sam Willis: My horniness is all a blur
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Dave: Dick pic day, whatever that was
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Sam Willis: Have you broken your abstinence this week!!! 😳
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Dave: Nope
[2026-04-10 11:23:00] Dave: That’s why I’m dying lol
[2026-04-10 11:24:00] Dave: …Have you?!
[2026-04-10 11:24:00] Sam Willis: Don’t you dare break it!! lol
[2026-04-10 11:24:00] Dave: Other than the one allowed day
[2026-04-10 11:24:00] Sam Willis: No. Not since the allowed day
[2026-04-10 11:25:00] Dave: Oh no, I wouldn’t break it for anything. Saving it all for you 🥰
[2026-04-10 11:25:00] Sam Willis: What if Juliet tries to jump your bones the next two days? 😭🤬😒
[2026-04-10 11:25:00] Dave: Sorry, my throat kind of hurts
[2026-04-10 11:25:00] Sam Willis: <no text>

[2026-04-10 11:33:00] Dave: The outside doesn’t look familiar though
[2026-04-10 11:34:00] Sam Willis: Welp we are going to find out lol
[2026-04-10 11:42:00] Sam Willis: What is the status of the box lol
[2026-04-10 11:43:00] Sam Willis: And yes I realize I can look that up on my own
[2026-04-10 11:43:00] Dave: There are a couple of nice shops right around that area.
[2026-04-10 11:43:00] Dave: Haha, it was in Atlanta last I checked but let me update rq
[2026-04-10 11:44:00] Dave: Yeah, same. No update since 04/09 at 0100. Still projected for Saturday delivery
[2026-04-10 11:44:00] Sam Willis: Wait
[2026-04-10 11:44:00] Sam Willis: Why the f would it go all the way to Atlanta
[2026-04-10 11:45:00] Sam Willis: That makes no sense
[2026-04-10 11:45:00] Dave: Shit like that happens all the time
[2026-04-10 11:45:00] Sam Willis: Wtfffff
[2026-04-10 11:45:00] Sam Willis: That’s dumb
[2026-04-10 11:48:00] Dave: It’s all about routing at scale. While AZ to TX is more direct, in the grand scheme of things it probably cheaper to throw it on the truck with a billion other packages going to GA, which is one of the biggest sorting centers in the country.
[2026-04-10 11:49:00] Dave: Also, the dumbfuck administration has crippled the usps over the years so they’re understaffed, underfunded, and can’t keep more sorting hubs open.
[2026-04-10 11:52:00] Sam Willis: Well these bitches better hurry
[2026-04-10 11:53:00] Sam Willis: Tick tock
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Sam Willis: Guess who is messaging me about trying to get Justin over to his team….
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Dave: Eric?
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Sam Willis: Yup
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Sam Willis: Did you tell him to reach out
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Dave: Nio
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Dave: Is Justin good?
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Sam Willis: He would be a good fit….
[2026-04-10 12:02:00] Sam Willis: Yes
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Dave: Would he?
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Dave: Ahh ok
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Sam Willis: Kind of like socially awkward but really thorough
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Sam Willis: Ex military.
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Dave: I’ve never actually worked with him.
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Sam Willis: I mean you know how those guys are
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Dave: But he seems cool
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Sam Willis: 😜
[2026-04-10 12:03:00] Dave: Other than the whole puppet thing
[2026-04-10 12:04:00] Sam Willis: He doesn’t like being told precisely what to do. He can’t stand the COE.
[2026-04-10 12:04:00] Sam Willis: I think Eric would be a good leadership fit for him too bc Eric is chill
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Sam Willis: Justin is the kind of guy that has a couple drinks at night and suddenly has good ideas about how to do oversight work better 😂😂
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Sam Willis: He really likes to be in the weeds with 1lod too
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Dave: So like, how does that work? Does Eric just have to convince you to let him go… Or what is the process lol?
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Sam Willis: Fuck if I know. Eric’s gonna call me
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Sam Willis: I think a position would have to be opened
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Dave: It’s a backfill for us
[2026-04-10 12:05:00] Sam Willis: Then I need a damn backfill
[2026-04-10 12:06:00] Sam Willis: Taking my damn ppl lol
[2026-04-10 12:07:00] Dave: Tell Eric maybe you can get your clothes on long enough for a lunch Monday to discuss it.
[2026-04-10 12:08:00] Sam Willis: Bitch I’m not wasting our time together going into the office!
[2026-04-10 12:08:00] Dave: Oh no! Even better..
[2026-04-10 12:08:00] Dave: Tell him you and I can discuss on our naked rendezvous lolol
[2026-04-10 12:08:00] Sam Willis: Bitch I’m not wasting our time together going into the office!
[2026-04-10 12:09:00] Dave: Hehehe, ikr
[2026-04-10 12:47:00] Sam Willis: I didn’t know Eric had a little pitty!!
[2026-04-10 12:47:00] Sam Willis: 😍😍
[2026-04-10 12:48:00] Dave: Oh yeah.. I think he just got it recently
[2026-04-10 12:48:00] Sam Willis: He said like last summer
[2026-04-10 12:48:00] Sam Willis: Had to have knee surgery
[2026-04-10 12:48:00] Sam Willis: Saved from the e list!!!
[2026-04-10 12:49:00] Sam Willis: (Euthanasia) if you didn’t know 😜
[2026-04-10 12:49:00] Dave: Yep
[2026-04-10 12:51:00] Sam Willis: Eric was not shy about basically saying he thinks Chris is a dumbass for going to the coe 😂
[2026-04-10 12:51:00] Dave: Lmao
[2026-04-10 12:51:00] Dave: Yeah, he doesn’t really have much of a filter
[2026-04-10 12:51:00] Sam Willis: My kind of dude
[2026-04-10 12:51:00] Dave: So what’s the deal with Justin?
[2026-04-10 12:53:00] Sam Willis: He’s on a call but I’m pinging him about it. He just said “oh my” lolol
[2026-04-10 12:54:00] Dave: But like, does he have a choice? Do YOU have a choice? Or is it a done deal?
[2026-04-10 12:54:00] Sam Willis: Oh no, not a done deal
[2026-04-10 12:54:00] Sam Willis: It’ll be a posted position
[2026-04-10 12:55:00] Sam Willis: Even if he is interested, still has to be posted but he would just be preferred
[2026-04-10 12:55:00] Dave: Ahhh ok
[2026-04-10 13:09:00] Sam Willis: Insider incidents are popping like crazy
[2026-04-10 13:09:00] Sam Willis: Ppl need to stop being dumb
[2026-04-10 13:09:00] Sam Willis: Most are contractors. Why do we have them. They are too risky
[2026-04-10 13:09:00] Dave: Oh yeah?? What kind of stuff?
[2026-04-10 13:10:00] Sam Willis: Emailing themselves confidential shit.
[2026-04-10 13:11:00] Sam Willis: Letting other people remote access their laptops?? Like why
[2026-04-10 13:11:00] Dave: Lol wtf
[2026-04-10 13:11:00] Sam Willis: The mouse jiggler shit
[2026-04-10 13:11:00] Sam Willis: Like can people not be dumb
[2026-04-10 13:12:00] Dave: No
[2026-04-10 13:12:00] Dave: Lmao
[2026-04-10 13:16:00] Sam Willis: Hmmmm I’m reviewing some evidence to close out this issue that has literally been PAST DUE for over a year. And I smell bullshit
[2026-04-10 13:16:00] Dave: Lol
[2026-04-10 13:16:00] Dave: Sounds about right
[2026-04-10 13:17:00] Sam Willis: Like it’s one of those situations where they drown you in “evidence” but the evidence doesn’t actually show/prove a god damn thing
[2026-04-10 13:17:00] Dave: Hahahaha
[2026-04-10 13:17:00] Dave: I’ve totally done that
[2026-04-10 13:17:00] Sam Willis: Brooooooo
[2026-04-10 13:18:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 13:19:00] Dave: <no text>
[2026-04-10 13:19:00] Sam Willis: Literally me every single time
[2026-04-10 13:25:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: The part that I'm saying is bullshit is because It's one thing to be sending your logs to the SIM, but if there's no rule set up in the SIM to actually alert, then this is pointless and that's the thing you see these you see I see a rule but it's freaking disabled and I'm like you're trying to tell me that this shit's implemented shit is not And is this evidence that they provided absolutely not going in and digging in the fricking sin myself? Assholes
[2026-04-10 13:27:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: But doesn't the fact that it's they are mean it's implemented It might not be operational, but the rule is implemented, right
[2026-04-10 13:28:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: OK, they better not try to make that freaking like ticky-tacky play on words with me implementation versus operation the point if it's not operational then how is any risk mitigated riddle me that
[2026-04-10 13:28:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: So what does like the action plan say like what? What is the shitty the definition of Don or whatever it is for you guys?
[2026-04-10 13:29:00] Sam Willis: Success criteria
[2026-04-10 13:29:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: I don't wanna talk about it because it's poorly worded It says oh my god whoa whoa whoa my mind whoa my mind jersey is completely freaking out. I'm pretty sure it says implemented, but that doesn't make me think to me and you know why that doesn't mean anything to me because it's a high rate issue and so it has more scrutiny like. No
[2026-04-10 13:30:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf
[2026-04-10 13:32:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: Are you really gonna go there? Wow I guess you are. Let me just pull up this goddamn success criteria again. This is the bullshit. I'm pinging board.
[2026-04-10 13:33:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Yeah, maybe we can just turn it on and then problem solved. Tell him I said to do that.
[2026-04-10 13:33:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: But she can't really can't expect dumb dumbs on first line to know like what you mean about mitigating risk like if you tell monkey with the keyboard implement this thing they're gonna be implemented Don't say nothing about working or risk or anything implemented though
[2026-04-10 13:35:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: I hate people because like yes they should know what you need to do to re-remediate an issue that is their issue, but I know People are very disappointing. Words said alerting has been disabled due to volume. It can be enabled once there's better tuning like it makes sense but like can somebody this shit God
[2026-04-10 13:36:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Classic ward Yeah, I know, but coming from first line Let me remind you that they don't know what any of this shit means like when you say risk and whatever and high rated issues, they don't know like any of this part that we know now You can't expect them to
[2026-04-10 13:37:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Like they just know the technical part like that's their career field all this risk nonsense and governance Governance is A whole whole other career
[2026-04-10 13:45:00] Sam Willis: But they should be asking themselves “why am I doing what I’m doing”?
[2026-04-10 13:46:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: I was gonna type but then it was too much but I was just saying when some if they've been spending months and months of their lives working on implementing something and then some risk person comes to them and says hey we need to send this over to second line to show that you guys did all this work don't you think they'd include stuff to show the full breath of the work That's all I'm saying
[2026-04-10 13:56:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Well, that's what you would think but from their perspective that's more work and they've already done a ton of work and moved onto other shit that is more important to them like saving the company from various threats and then there's some Hot chick standing over them, which is always nice but she's like I need paperwork and fucking evidence and we'll talk about this thing you did over the last three months shit that nobody like ever remembers past. You know the day that they're doing it because they've got 10 other things that they're doing too.
[2026-04-10 13:56:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: You you being the chick of course you can stand over me anytime you want and you can ask me anything you want. I probably won't even notice.
[2026-04-10 13:57:00] Sam Willis: You need to go back into 1lod with how much you’re defending these fuckers lol
[2026-04-10 13:57:00] Sam Willis: Actually. I defend 1lod all the time too. But it’s the TOS team. And they are dipshits
[2026-04-10 13:57:00] Sam Willis: This issue is 16 MONTHS PAST DUE
[2026-04-10 13:57:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: I am not defending them trying to give you the perspective. You need to understand them, which will hopefully help you get what you need from them.
[2026-04-10 13:58:00] Sam Willis: Oh god I temporarily forgot TOS came from TDA. Are you one of those TDAers that will defend other TDAers to the death? 😜
[2026-04-10 13:58:00] Sam Willis: Omg I sound like such a Schwab bitch right now
[2026-04-10 13:58:00] Sam Willis: WHO AM I
[2026-04-10 13:58:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: And completely off-topic Another reason that you need to watch DTF is because there's some hilarious sex stuff in there like standing over top of me made me think about it because there's like this cause I was gonna say something about sitting sitting over top of me on me on my face Edit it reminded me there's this whole face sitting Fart And it was just it was funny
[2026-04-10 13:59:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf
[2026-04-10 14:03:00] Sam Willis: OK don’t use your voice too much these next couple days. 😂
[2026-04-10 14:03:00] Sam Willis: Don’t lose it!!
[2026-04-10 14:03:00] Sam Willis: I really do need to watch DTF lol
[2026-04-10 14:04:00] Sam Willis: Lolol I understand the team TDA thing
[2026-04-10 14:05:00] Dave: Nope I’m good this time 🥰
[2026-04-10 14:05:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: I have spent literally all day on this issue I need to I need to not. I need to be done. I'm over it. It's stressing me out. I wanna do it anymore. Anyway, I'm eating strawberries and they were so delicious last night and now they're just like They need more sugar They're tart AF anyway OK bye I'm good about your voice, but don't test it too much. You're gonna do all this time.
[2026-04-10 14:07:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: I'm gonna do all the talking I kind of doubt that Which is great, of course I love how much you talk. You have the prettiest voice to match the prettiest face and the prettiest everything really God, I cannot wait to touch your body oh my God and touch it and kiss it So excited to see you And snuggle you and spoon you OK, bye
[2026-04-10 14:08:00] Sam Willis: Are you saying I talk too much!!
[2026-04-10 14:08:00] Sam Willis: Uh huh
[2026-04-10 14:08:00] Sam Willis: Now you’re buttering me up
[2026-04-10 14:09:00] Sam Willis: Hehe I also can’t fucking waitttttttt
[2026-04-10 14:19:00] Sam Willis: So. There’s actually a Director of Audit role open. At a bank. In my hometown. Which is very very very rare.
[2026-04-10 14:20:00] Sam Willis: It actually reads more like what you would expect an MD role here to do.
[2026-04-10 14:20:00] Sam Willis: And it’s like…do I actually try to go for this??
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Sam Willis: Pay band is up to $200k, which I don’t love, but that’s maybe like $300k in Phoenix money lol
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Dave: Hell yes you go for it!!
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Sam Willis: I do??
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Sam Willis: But it’s in Effingham…
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Dave: Omg yes!
[2026-04-10 14:21:00] Sam Willis: And it’s audit….
[2026-04-10 14:22:00] Sam Willis: Not IT audit either
[2026-04-10 14:22:00] Sam Willis: Which maybe is enticing a little actually. Get back to my roots lol
[2026-04-10 14:22:00] Dave: It’s a people leader role though right?
[2026-04-10 14:22:00] Sam Willis: https://midlandsb.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/msbcareers/job/Director---Audit---Assurance_JR1274 Director - Audit & Assurance
[2026-04-10 14:26:00] Dave: You should absolutely apply for it. Even if you decide not to take it later it’s a great opportunity 1. To get a feel for the market, and what people are looking for and 2. just to get in the groove of interviewing again. It might be IN Effingham which isn’t where you wanted but you DO want to be close to your family and that part is right on the money
[2026-04-10 14:27:00] Sam Willis: There’s also a really nice house for sale literally 4 houses away from parents lmao but it’s like $750k which is notttt what I’m trying to spend.
[2026-04-10 14:27:00] Dave: Jesus

[2026-04-10 14:30:00] Dave: This is pretty nice. But wtf would you even do with 3700 sq/ft lol
[2026-04-10 14:30:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 14:30:00] Dave: That’s awesome!

[2026-04-10 15:12:00] Dave: Not fast enough. But otherwise, fine.
[2026-04-10 15:12:00] Dave: I didn’t do any work today, so that’s always nice
[2026-04-10 15:13:00] Dave: How long are you staying at the office? Is it like a ghost town?

[2026-04-10 15:18:00] Sam Willis: Per usual
[2026-04-10 15:18:00] Sam Willis: It actually isn’t too bad here. There’s 4 of us TRMers

[2026-04-10 15:30:00] Dave: 100% you can do it!
[2026-04-10 15:41:00] Sam Willis: Having to look at old white stupid men in their little cameras on Teams calls makes me want to punch a bitch
[2026-04-10 15:42:00] Sam Willis: I should be more nice
[2026-04-10 15:43:00] Dave: lol no way
[2026-04-10 15:43:00] Dave: Fuck old white men

[2026-04-10 15:44:00] Dave: And hopefully…. You’ll fuck me 😝
[2026-04-10 15:45:00] Sam Willis: Can you believe we are having a full on capital A???? 🫣😶🌫️
[2026-04-10 15:45:00] Sam Willis: Sometimes I’m still in denial lol

[2026-04-10 15:46:00] Dave: Ok ok
[2026-04-10 15:46:00] Sam Willis: Like…we act fully like we are in a long distance relationship lol
[2026-04-10 15:46:00] Dave: Is that reeeeally what we want to get into right before naked rendezvous 😅
[2026-04-10 15:46:00] Sam Willis: Hahaha
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Sam Willis: YOU don’t want to
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Sam Willis: I’m always willing to discuss the reality of WAA 😂
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Sam Willis: But ok ok
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Dave: Ok. Let’s do it.
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Dave: How long are we going to last?
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Sam Willis: lol there’s nothing to really discuss! I was pondering to the universe
[2026-04-10 15:47:00] Dave: Put a number on it.
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Sam Willis: Not asking a question to be answered
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Sam Willis: No
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Sam Willis: Do YOU want that
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Dave: No!!
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Sam Willis: Hmph
[2026-04-10 15:48:00] Sam Willis: You get so sassy
[2026-04-10 15:49:00] Sam Willis: Look at this attitude
[2026-04-10 15:49:00] Sam Willis: Look at this attitude
[2026-04-10 15:49:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 15:52:00] Dave: But to your original question, it IS pretty wild. I frequently think: wow… I can’t believe this is happening. But more in the sense of like, the connection, and that it’s with you - someone I felt is way out of my league. I know I know, but it’s how I felt.
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Sam Willis: Still this Me reading your text and interpreting your tone lol
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Dave: My tone was actually 90% joking, and 10% serious
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Dave: My tone was actually 90% joking, and 10% serious
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Sam Willis: I know. Well I figured
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Sam Willis: I would have been able to better gauge if we were in person. Obvi. My reaction is the same either way though lol
[2026-04-10 15:53:00] Sam Willis: Still this
[2026-04-10 15:54:00] Dave: Nope. 😅
[2026-04-10 15:54:00] Dave: Nope. 😅
[2026-04-10 15:54:00] Sam Willis: “Bitch, you wanna start with me??” 😘
[2026-04-10 15:55:00] Dave: Yeah, we’re pretty intense. For sure
[2026-04-10 15:55:00] Dave: Yeah, we’re pretty intense. For sure
[2026-04-10 15:59:00] Sam Willis: Why did reading that make me wet? 😩
[2026-04-10 16:00:00] Dave: Which part?
[2026-04-10 16:00:00] Sam Willis: These two for some reason lol
[2026-04-10 16:01:00] Dave: Hehehe
[2026-04-10 16:01:00] Dave: that’s a great question
[2026-04-10 16:03:00] Dave: Every exchange has made me hard. Literally every time I’m texting you, I get hard. And like, at least half the time I’m not texting you I’m hard.
[2026-04-10 16:03:00] Sam Willis: Hahahaha
[2026-04-10 16:03:00] Dave: And not just hard. But like, THROBBING hard 🥵
[2026-04-10 16:03:00] Sam Willis: You mean since the dick pic day?

[2026-04-10 16:04:00] Sam Willis: 😋😋
[2026-04-10 16:04:00] Sam Willis: I can’t hardly even think about it because I want it SO BADLY
[2026-04-10 16:04:00] Dave: I’ve been thinking about it and I seriously don’t know if I’ve EVER been this horny 🥵
[2026-04-10 16:04:00] Sam Willis: Throb in my mouth, please
[2026-04-10 16:04:00] Sam Willis: 😋😋

[2026-04-10 16:05:00] Sam Willis: Eeeeee!!!! Two more days baby. Less than!
[2026-04-10 16:05:00] Sam Willis: Eeeeee!!!! Two more days baby. Less than!
[2026-04-10 16:05:00] Dave: Ok, I need to recalbrate my countdown
[2026-04-10 16:06:00] Dave: When does your flight arrive? Did you hear anything on early checkin?
[2026-04-10 16:06:00] Dave: Are we still planning on 2:00?
[2026-04-10 16:07:00] Sam Willis: To what?
[2026-04-10 16:07:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: My flight arrives at 11:06 I think and then I requested a check in at 11:30 and it just says I'll do what they can to accommodate if they can but I don't think that I'm gonna really know until I get there and then I thought we said 230 but you tell me to also works
[2026-04-10 16:07:00] Sam Willis: To what?
[2026-04-10 16:11:00] Dave: Countdown until the time I show up at your room
[2026-04-10 16:11:00] Dave: Oh, 2:30 is fine
[2026-04-10 16:12:00] Dave: I just want you to have plenty of time to nap and stuff ☺️
[2026-04-10 16:12:00] Sam Willis: What did you have it at before?
[2026-04-10 16:12:00] Sam Willis: We will see how I feel when I get to the room. I might be like ready to gooooooo
[2026-04-10 16:13:00] Dave: I had it set to 1:00
[2026-04-10 16:13:00] Dave: Just changed it to 2:30
[2026-04-10 16:13:00] Dave: 1 day 22 hours 16 mins
[2026-04-10 16:13:00] Sam Willis: Ahhhh!!
[2026-04-10 16:22:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: I just remember that Christian needed to get back to the house this morning if he was going to move forward otherwise they were gonna move on to other applicants if there wasn't he so anyway, he was supposed to called him this morning and I haven't heard anything so I'm very curious If he did
[2026-04-10 16:24:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Oh yeah, I was wondering about that actually earlier and then forgot Yeah, I can't imagine he did or else he probably would've told, right? Are there any others to look at on the horizon or they're gonna be another couple months before you guys look at some other ones?
[2026-04-10 16:24:00] Dave: I’m such a bitch 🤭
[2026-04-10 16:28:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: He really wants the June 1 or end of May move out I forgot to tell you that last night before I was like like what is the hold up? Is it like the moving in two weeks thing and he's like no I've already talked about that you already pointed out that you know it's not like I have to move all at once. He's like I don't wanna you know move out and already beat in a whole financially or be stressed financially and he's like it. You know if I had another month I would you know I have money saved up, but I wanna have more money saved up and he's like in one month one more month would really help me. OK, so like he really just I think wants to wait but Yeah, I mean Realistically that's another month and a half. It's only been like it's been a month since we broke up and it already feels like it's been a long time right like I don't even I don't know.
[2026-04-10 16:31:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Oh shit so I thought I was just being sassy with a couple months, but it really is gonna be a couple months So then again, does that mean like? By end of revival say like as a target move our date so Start looking like what First of May or is that like start looking first of June
[2026-04-10 16:31:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf Transcription: Yeah, I got should've taken him up on that offer to move down to the guest room or office or whatever If you've known it was gonna be six more months
[2026-04-10 16:31:00] Sam Willis: Move of May
[2026-04-10 16:32:00] Sam Willis: Is the target
[2026-04-10 16:33:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: What's weird is like Like him sleeping in bed with me and like still be naked all night long and like I still just like being naked around each other like it has no effect on me whatsoever, but it hasn't in like months and months you know what I mean I honestly don't know if it's like the bisexuality or not like I just don't know what it is where there's like no turn on There whatsoever it's so weird but anyway they all had to say is like it just really has like no impact on me Physical or even mental standpoint, it's just kind of like it's like what I imagine having a gay best friend would be like I have no idea what to do, but it's just weird
[2026-04-10 16:34:00] Sam Willis: Transcription: If it weren't for you, I would be going through a period of my life right now where I'm like am I? What's the term asexual like? What is do I not have a turn on feature anymore like what is happening because it's just like nothing.
[2026-04-10 16:38:00] Dave: Audio Message.caf
[2026-04-10 17:04:00] Dave: <no text>
[2026-04-10 17:04:00] Dave: Thoughts on any of these logo designs?
[2026-04-10 17:06:00] Sam Willis: Number 2
[2026-04-10 17:06:00] Sam Willis: 1 and 3 kind of remind me of Superman
[2026-04-10 17:06:00] Dave: Really?!
[2026-04-10 17:06:00] Sam Willis: 4 maybe but I don’t think I love the orange
[2026-04-10 17:07:00] Dave: K. Thank you. You’re wrong… But thank you.
[2026-04-10 17:07:00] Sam Willis: 3 is definitely my least favorite
[2026-04-10 17:07:00] Dave: Jk jk
[2026-04-10 17:07:00] Dave: Really, thank you!
[2026-04-10 17:07:00] Sam Willis: What is yours??
[2026-04-10 17:08:00] Dave: So 2 was my initial favorite right away, but I didn’t like that the box doesn’t have a clear D C in it. It kinda has a C, but that’s it.
[2026-04-10 17:09:00] Sam Willis: Can you change it
[2026-04-10 17:09:00] Dave: <no text>
[2026-04-10 17:10:00] Sam Willis: 1 and 2
[2026-04-10 17:10:00] Sam Willis: I think 1 is my fave
[2026-04-10 17:20:00] Dave: <no text>
[2026-04-10 17:20:00] Dave: Ok, I’m getting overwhelmed. Coming back to this later lol
[2026-04-10 17:20:00] Sam Willis: Just got home. He’s going to pass up the house. Sigh. He doesn’t want to move out until end of May
[2026-04-10 17:20:00] Dave: <no text>
[2026-04-10 17:20:00] Sam Willis: Broooo
[2026-04-10 17:21:00] Dave: Yeah, I figured 😞
[2026-04-10 17:21:00] Sam Willis: Do you still want my thoughts on the logos?
[2026-04-10 17:21:00] Dave: Yeah, def
[2026-04-10 17:23:00] Dave: It’s just that I could sit here prompting it all day and never pick anything lmao.
[2026-04-10 17:29:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 17:29:00] Sam Willis: That’s fun!!
[2026-04-10 17:31:00] Dave: That one caught my eye too!
[2026-04-10 17:35:00] Sam Willis: Also like but the rock/water one is my fave!
[2026-04-10 17:41:00] Sam Willis: Laying down for a bit before my facial. Byeeeee
[2026-04-10 18:43:00] Dave: Updated. Still on time
[2026-04-10 18:44:00] Sam Willis: Sigh
[2026-04-10 18:44:00] Sam Willis: I’ve never seen “moving through network”
[2026-04-10 18:56:00] Dave: Yeah it’ll show up in ft worth overnight
[2026-04-10 18:56:00] Sam Willis: Hopefully! 🙏
[2026-04-10 19:03:00] Sam Willis: You know how we’ve talked before about how music can take you back to a point in time? Well I was listening to the playlist Spotify made me of all my top songs in 2020 and now I’m soooo in my feels
[2026-04-10 19:03:00] Sam Willis: I feel like I lived like 5 lives that year
[2026-04-10 19:03:00] Sam Willis: Terrible idea lol
[2026-04-10 19:04:00] Sam Willis: Anywho. About to get my facial
[2026-04-10 19:34:00] Dave: Tell me
[2026-04-10 19:34:00] Dave: Tell me
[2026-04-10 19:55:00] Sam Willis: Just like a blast from the past I didn’t know that I didn’t want lol.
[2026-04-10 19:58:00] Sam Willis: There was like single for basically the first time in her adult life Sam, then Sam that had a tiny half an a with married man Sam 🫣, then single while the world was shutting down with COVID Sam that was starting to feel super free. Then Sam that met Chaz and was having so much fun. Then Sam suddenly with an instant family in the house. Just too many Sam’s!!! lol
[2026-04-10 19:58:00] Sam Willis: But my facial was fabulous so yay! Lol
[2026-04-10 19:59:00] Sam Willis: And when you have a Spotify playlist that isn’t linear and it’s like 🤯😳😩😔-too many emotions lol if that makes ANY sense
[2026-04-10 20:00:00] Dave: Oh i totally get it
[2026-04-10 20:01:00] Dave: Music is super strong that way for me too
[2026-04-10 20:05:00] Dave: It’s totally normal to look back and feel ways. And it’s not even a bad thing to do so from time to time, even if it’s emotional.
[2026-04-10 20:06:00] Dave: That’s all part of your experience that you shouldn’t forget about ya know
[2026-04-10 20:06:00] Dave: And chances are, it’ll pass quickly enough
[2026-04-10 20:07:00] Sam Willis: It’s mostly passed. But I just don’t want to go back there. Also, Phoenix in general just has too much “stuff” tied to it for me. I’m so ready be out of here.
[2026-04-10 20:07:00] Dave: Yeah, I think so
[2026-04-10 20:07:00] Sam Willis: It’s mostly passed. But I just don’t want to go back there. Also, Phoenix in general just has too much “stuff” tied to it for me. I’m so ready be out of here.
[2026-04-10 20:14:00] Dave: I think some of my old music that is connected to times in my life kinda becomes.. idk lol. Like there’s more of a block that manifests in I don’t like that song anymore and I’m not sure if it’s because the song definitely reminds me of a time a felt a way - and like that’s my brains way of protecting myself from reliving the to the song.
[2026-04-10 20:15:00] Dave: No idea if that makes sense lol
[2026-04-10 20:22:00] Sam Willis: Oh I can totally get that
[2026-04-10 20:23:00] Sam Willis: I have those too but today it was more the songs that I love and had forgotten about but they just cut too deep lol
[2026-04-10 20:23:00] Sam Willis: Like a bitter taste in your mouth or something.
[2026-04-10 20:43:00] Sam Willis: What the mother fuck! There are 3 charges on my credit card for like $2k that are definitely not mine. All for an urgent care in Alabama. 🤬
[2026-04-10 20:53:00] Dave: wtf!!
[2026-04-10 20:53:00] Sam Willis: <no text>
[2026-04-10 20:54:00] Dave: That’s… weird
[2026-04-10 20:55:00] Dave: That’s an odd place for cc fraud lol
[2026-04-10 20:56:00] Sam Willis: It’s very weird
[2026-04-10 20:58:00] Sam Willis: Sigh. Not only do I have to get a new card (fine) but they have to change my Costco membership number, which is tied to my house and auto insurance, and this is all dumb lol
[2026-04-10 20:58:00] Sam Willis: Just glad I caught it. Mad it took me this long!
[2026-04-10 20:59:00] Sam Willis: Also. Side rant. I’m slightly annoyed bc Christian has been using this card and like fine, I get it you’re going to Costco to get food for the house. But like also getting gas for his car and it’s just like 😒
[2026-04-10 21:01:00] Dave: wtf bro
[2026-04-10 21:01:00] Dave: And he STILL needs time to save up money
[2026-04-10 21:01:00] Dave: Why do they have to change your Costco number?
[2026-04-10 21:02:00] Sam Willis: I truly do not understand.
[2026-04-10 21:02:00] Sam Willis: I truly do not understand.
[2026-04-10 21:03:00] Sam Willis: Bc it’s a Costco credit card and my membership # is on there so maybe just to be safe 🤷♀️ bc I get a whole lotta cash back every year bc I spend so much money there lol
[2026-04-10 21:03:00] Sam Willis: Bc it’s a Costco credit card and my membership # is on there so maybe just to be safe 🤷♀️ bc I get a whole lotta cash back every year bc I spend so much money there lol
[2026-04-10 21:04:00] Sam Willis: It even has my picture on there and everything and it’s from when I was skinny. HMPH! Hopefully they just transfer the pic over lmao
[2026-04-10 21:05:00] Dave: So it doesn’t seem like he really has… ANY… expenses
[2026-04-10 21:07:00] Dave: And how do you used the cc at an urgent care without the actual card…
[2026-04-10 21:07:00] Sam Willis: Car payment, car insurance, phone, child support….
[2026-04-10 21:07:00] Dave: Well, unless they used it to pay a bill online I guess
[2026-04-10 21:08:00] Sam Willis: Now extra debt from the car engine…. Whatever the fuck bullshit the kids are in bc Emily doesn’t pay shit It’s all highly annoying.
[2026-04-10 21:08:00] Sam Willis: The 3 separate charges on the same day for different amounts is so random and weird
[2026-04-10 21:09:00] Dave: And he still pays child support…
[2026-04-10 21:09:00] Sam Willis: Yuppp
[2026-04-10 21:09:00] Sam Willis: And for Quinn’s braces
[2026-04-10 21:09:00] Dave: That’s whack
[2026-04-10 21:10:00] Dave: THAT’S what the CS is supposed to be for!!
[2026-04-10 21:10:00] Sam Willis: His child support is like $300/mo still. They have never ever reassessed it.
[2026-04-10 21:11:00] Dave: Oh lol
[2026-04-10 21:11:00] Dave: Can’t complain about that I guess
[2026-04-10 21:12:00] Sam Willis: BUT I will say…there was a year or more in there where he didn’t pay her anything (before he met me) bc he decided to up and leave his career at the state police without having any other plan
[2026-04-10 21:12:00] Dave: That’s so fucking stupid
[2026-04-10 21:12:00] Sam Willis: So he literally cashed out his pension and lived off of that until it ran out. Lord only knows how much he left behind taking it out early
[2026-04-10 21:12:00] Dave: That’s like teenager shit
[2026-04-10 21:12:00] Sam Willis: EXACTLY
[2026-04-10 21:13:00] Sam Willis: No one taught this man how to like…manage money
[2026-04-10 21:13:00] Dave: Evidently
[2026-04-10 21:13:00] Sam Willis: I just truly do not get it
[2026-04-10 21:14:00] Sam Willis: If he went from paying even let’s say $2k/mo at his apartment when we met. AND he was making about $25k LESS back then, WHERE IS THE MONEY
[2026-04-10 21:14:00] Dave: Right?!
[2026-04-10 21:15:00] Dave: Enough about that bullshit though… let’s talk about where my dick is going to be in 48 hours from now 😈
[2026-04-10 21:15:00] Dave: And guess?
[2026-04-10 21:15:00] Sam Willis: It better be deeeeep inside of me
[2026-04-10 21:16:00] Sam Willis: What’s your guess?
[2026-04-10 21:16:00] Dave: Deeeeeep inside of you.
[2026-04-10 21:16:00] Dave: Or maybe in your mouth
[2026-04-10 21:17:00] Sam Willis: It’ll be somewhere, getting covered in my wetness. Either way.
[2026-04-10 21:17:00] Dave: Or maybe tucked up between your butt cheeks because we’ve both already fallen asleep
[2026-04-10 21:18:00] Sam Willis: At 9:17??
[2026-04-10 21:18:00] Sam Willis: Yea, it’s a possibility
[2026-04-10 21:18:00] Sam Willis: Lmao
[2026-04-10 21:18:00] Dave: Hahaha
[2026-04-10 21:18:00] Dave: Maybe we should have some vodka/redbull shots instead of lemon drops lol
[2026-04-10 21:21:00] Sam Willis: Well the sativa should help a little bit with energy
[2026-04-10 21:21:00] Sam Willis: Unless you eat fucking 5 at once again
[2026-04-10 21:21:00] Sam Willis: 😒
[2026-04-10 21:21:00] Dave: Lmao
[2026-04-10 21:21:00] Dave: 🙄
[2026-04-10 21:22:00] Sam Willis: I’m taking maybe 1/4 of one the first time lol
[2026-04-10 21:22:00] Sam Willis: You can always ADD. You just can’t take away!! GEESH
[2026-04-10 21:23:00] Dave: Fine. I’ll follow your guidance ms. I-didn’t-know-anyone-ever-mailed-weed…
[2026-04-10 21:23:00] Sam Willis: Bc no one does
[2026-04-10 21:23:00] Dave: EVERYONE does
[2026-04-10 21:23:00] Sam Willis: I bet that’s why it went all the way to Atlanta
[2026-04-10 21:23:00] Sam Willis: The HQ of the DEA is probably there
[2026-04-10 21:24:00] Sam Willis: It’s being tested
[2026-04-10 21:24:00] Dave: Lmao
[2026-04-10 21:24:00] Sam Willis: Diverted
[2026-04-10 21:24:00] Sam Willis: Confiscated
[2026-04-10 21:24:00] Sam Willis: Investigated
[2026-04-10 21:28:00] Sam Willis: Exactly
[2026-04-10 21:28:00] Dave: Well Princess, I’m in bed because, like Xmas, the sooner I get to sleep, the sooner Sunday gets here 😁
[2026-04-10 21:28:00] Sam Willis: Lmao. Yasssssss
[2026-04-10 21:28:00] Sam Willis: I AM SO EXCITED!!!!
[2026-04-10 21:28:00] Sam Willis: omg can’t wait to hug you
[2026-04-10 21:29:00] Dave: I know I know I know
[2026-04-10 21:29:00] Sam Willis: Can’t wait to be a stage 5 clinger and spoon you
[2026-04-10 21:29:00] Sam Willis: But like spoon you with my leg all wrapped around you
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Dave: Yesss
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Sam Willis: Sweet dreams baby
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Dave: Wrap everything you can around me
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Sam Willis: I love you
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Dave: Night night baby, I love you so so much
[2026-04-10 21:30:00] Dave: Can’t wait to talk to you tomorrow 🥰
[2026-04-10 21:46:00] Sam Willis: https://www.instagram.com/takeaslynn/p/DWjVYLyDRVH/ Takeaslynn | Your Internet Bestfriend 🤍 on Instagram 😅😅
[2026-04-10 21:46:00] Sam Willis: All 3 of these 😘
The hotel room door clicked shut behind her and Sam dropped her carry-on where she stood, because Dave was already crossing the carpet toward her and the look on his face had undone her knees before his hand even found her jaw.
He didn't say hello. He said, "Breathe."
She tried. Her breath came out shaky, caught on the edge of a laugh that wasn't a laugh, because four years of this and two days of anticipation and a red-eye's worth of clenching her thighs together on a plane had left her wound so tight that the simple fact of him — the clean soap smell of him, the solid warmth of his palm on her face, the weight of him standing close enough that she had to tilt her chin up — was enough to make her eyes burn.
"There you are," he said. His thumb traced her lower lip. "Hi."
"Hi."
"You made it."
"I made it."
He looked at her for a long moment, and she felt him take inventory the way he always did — the tiredness under her eyes from Layla's stomach bug, the residual static from a week of work she hadn't finished, the trembling in her hands that wasn't from the flight. He saw all of it. He always saw all of it. That was the thing about Dave; he never missed the parts of her she tried to set down at the door.
"Come here," he said, and she did, and he held her.
Just held her. One hand in her hair, the other flat between her shoulder blades, his mouth at her temple. He didn't kiss her yet. He didn't need to. She could feel him already hard against her stomach and he made no effort to hide it and he made no effort to use it, and somehow that — the patient weight of him just letting her arrive — was what made the first tear slip down her cheek.
"I know," he murmured. "I know. I've got you."
"I'm not —"
"I know you're not. You're fine. You're just here. Let yourself be here."
She nodded into his chest. He let her stand there as long as she needed. When her breathing finally evened out, when her grip on the back of his shirt loosened, he tilted her chin up and looked at her, and the look had changed.
"Okay?" he said.
"Okay."
"Good girl." His hand slid from her jaw to her throat, rested there — not gripping, just present. "Here's how this is going to go. You've been wound up for a week. You've been a clinger in your head, you told me. You want to crawl inside me. I know. I felt it every night you sent me voice notes with that particular catch in your voice."
She swallowed. His palm registered the movement.
"So we're going to take you apart slow," he said. "Color?"
"Green."
"Tell me your words."
"Red stop, yellow slow."
"Good." His thumb pressed just under her ear, the place that made her hips shift without her permission. "Strip. Leave everything by the door. Go stand at the foot of the bed."
She did. She pulled her sweater over her head, stepped out of her jeans, unhooked her bra with her back to him because she could feel him watching and she wanted to give him the line of her spine first. When she turned around in just her underwear he was sitting on the edge of the bed with his legs spread and his elbows on his knees, and the expression on his face was the one that made her feel like a held note.
"Those too."
She slid them down. Stepped out. Stood there.
"Come here."
She crossed the few feet between them. He didn't touch her at first. He just looked. Ran his eyes down the whole length of her like he was memorizing her after a fast, which — she supposed — he was. She was wet already. She could feel it, slick down the inside of her thigh, and his eyes caught it, and his jaw tightened.
"Jesus, Sam."
"I told you."
"You did tell me." He hooked two fingers behind her knee and pulled her forward until she was standing between his thighs. "Hands behind your back. Hold your elbows."
She did. It pushed her breasts forward and made her shoulders roll back and made her feel — the way she always felt when he positioned her — like an offering she was allowed to be.
He leaned in and took one nipple in his mouth.
The sound that came out of her was not dignified. It was a broken little oh that turned into a whine when his tongue flattened and his teeth closed, not hard, just enough to make her hips jerk forward against nothing. He held her there with one hand splayed across her lower back, kept her where he wanted her, moved to the other breast, took his time. She could feel him breathing her in. She could feel the scrape of his stubble where his chin pressed against her sternum. When he pulled off, her nipple was wet and stiff and the cool air of the room made her shiver.
"You're not going to come until I say."
"Okay."
"Say it back."
"I'm not going to come until you say."
"Good girl." His hand slid down between her legs and his middle finger pushed through her, slow, parting her, and she had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep her knees from buckling. He was still fully dressed. That registered dimly — the fact that she was naked in front of him and he was in the button-down he'd worn to the airport, cuffs rolled, belt still on. She felt stripped in a way that was more than clothing.
His finger curled inside her and found the spot and she made a sound that wasn't a word.
"Deeeeep," he said, quiet, almost to himself, and she recognized her own text back at her and flushed so hard her chest went pink. "You said it better be deep inside you. Is this deep enough?"
"No."
He laughed, low. "No?"
"No, Sir."
"Hmm." Another finger. He twisted his wrist and pressed up and she felt herself clench around him helplessly. "Greedy."
"Yes."
"On the bed. On your back. Arms over your head."
She climbed up. Her legs were already unsteady. She lay back and stretched her arms over her head and gripped one wrist with her other hand because she knew he liked to see her hold herself in place before he made it literal.
He stood and finally — finally — started unbuttoning his shirt. He took his time. She watched him, and the watching was its own torture, because his eyes never left her and the look in them was the look of a man rationing.
"Spread your legs."
She did.
"Wider."
Wider.
"Knees up. Feet flat. Show me."
She did, and the exposure of it — knees splayed, everything on display, the cool air on her — made her face go hot and her cunt clench around nothing and her breath come faster. He stood at the foot of the bed with his shirt half open and just looked at her. Looked and looked. She could see him working his jaw.
"You have no idea," he said, "how you look right now."
"Tell me."
"Wrecked already. Shaking. Wet down to the sheets. Your thighs are already wet, baby, look at yourself."
She couldn't. She kept her eyes on him.
He climbed onto the bed. Not over her — beside her. He pulled a length of soft rope from the nightstand drawer, the simple cotton kind they'd decided on months ago, nothing fancy, and he took her wrists in one hand and looped them together above her head and tied them to the slats of the headboard with the efficient unhurried movements of a man who had practiced this on his own knee for weeks while waiting for her plane. The rope was soft. The knot was firm. He tugged to test it and her shoulders flexed and she felt the pull all the way down her spine.
"Color."
"Green. So green."
"Good."
Then he was between her legs and his mouth was on her and she wasn't ready, she was never ready for his mouth, for the way he ate her like she was the first meal he'd had in days. He spread her open with his thumbs and dragged his tongue slow from her entrance to her clit and circled, and she pulled against the rope without meaning to and felt it hold and felt her whole body respond to being held. His tongue flattened. His lips closed around her clit and sucked. Two fingers pushed inside her and curled and she was already close, embarrassingly close, the week of wanting collapsing into thirty seconds of his mouth.
"Dave — Dave, I'm —"
He pulled off her completely.
The cry that came out of her was pure animal. Her hips lifted off the bed chasing nothing. He watched her twitch and pulse around his fingers and he didn't move them, didn't pull them out, just held her there, held her on the edge, let her feel exactly how close he'd taken her and exactly how he'd stopped.
"No," he said, calm. "Not yet."
"Please —"
"Not yet."
He did it again. And again. Each time closer. Each time the pull-off was crueler because her body had started to believe the release was coming. By the fourth time her face was wet and her thighs were shaking uncontrollably and she was making sounds she couldn't have reproduced outside this room — broken pleading consonants, his name half-swallowed, a whimper that came from somewhere low in her chest. The rope had gone warm against her wrists. Her shoulders ached. She didn't care about any of it.
"Look at me."
She pried her eyes open. He was kneeling between her legs, his mouth and chin shining wet with her, his fingers still buried inside her, his free hand working his belt open.
"You've been so good," he said. "So fucking patient. So fucking good for me all week. Baby. You can come the next time I tell you to. Okay?"
"Okay. Okay, okay, okay —"
He shoved his jeans down just enough. His cock was thick and hard and already leaking and when he pulled his fingers out of her and lined himself up and pushed into her in one long slow thrust, the sound she made was not quite a scream. It was the sound of the thing she'd been holding for two days finally letting go of her.
"There," he breathed. "There. There you are."
He wasn't gentle. He wasn't rough either. He was present — every stroke deep, every stroke finding the same spot inside her his fingers had found, his forehead dropped to hers, his breath in her mouth. She felt him everywhere. The weight of him. The slap of his hips against hers, wet from what he'd built up between her thighs. The drag of his belt buckle against her stomach where he hadn't bothered to take his jeans off all the way. Her wrists pulled against the rope and the rope held and she was held by the rope and by him and by four years of being known.
"Come on," he said against her mouth. "Come on, now. Come for me. Come on my cock. Let me feel it."
She did.
It tore out of her. Her back came off the bed. She clenched around him so hard he made a strangled noise, and he fucked her through it, and she sobbed — real sobs, wet helpless ones, the kind that came only with him, the kind that weren't sadness — and he kept going, kept her there, pressed his forehead harder against hers and said that's it, baby, that's it, that's my girl and came inside her with a shudder that went through both of them.
For a long time, neither of them moved.
He untied her wrists before anything else. Rubbed them between his palms, kissed the red lines the rope had left, checked her fingers for cold. She couldn't stop shaking. He didn't ask her to.
"I've got you," he said. "I've got you. I've got you."
He pulled the blanket up over her legs. He got water from the nightstand and held the bottle to her mouth and she drank and some of it spilled down her chin and he wiped it with his thumb. He lay down beside her finally, still half-dressed, and gathered her against his chest, and she wrapped her leg around his the way she'd said she would, stage-five clinger, and pressed her wet face into his throat.
"Hi," he said again, softer.
"Hi."
"You're here."
"I'm here."
"Two days," he said. "I've got you for two whole days."
She laughed, a wet shaky thing, and he kissed the top of her head, and outside the window the afternoon light was moving across the carpet, and for the first time all week she wasn't bracing for anything at all.
The dust came through the saloon doors ahead of the man who brought it, and Sam knew him by his walk before she saw his face.
She was behind the bar with a pistol she didn't own pointed at the door, a dead man on the floorboards behind her, and the whole of Refuge, Arizona holding its breath in the hundred-degree afternoon. She'd shot Caldwell through the throat thirty seconds before Dave came in. He was still bleeding out. She hadn't decided yet if it counted as self-defense or if it counted as the thing she'd come here to do.
Dave stepped out of the light into the shade and stopped. He took off his hat. He looked at the body, then at her, then at the pistol she was holding with both hands trembling just enough to notice.
"Virginia," she said, and heard her own voice break on the word. It was what she'd called him the first time they met, a town and a year ago, when he'd said ma'am like he meant it and she'd known she was in trouble. "You're late."
"I'm sorry, sweetpea." He set the hat on the bar. "Ferry didn't come in."
"Don't ferry me. You were supposed to be here Tuesday."
"I know."
"He had three men with him when he rode in. Three."
"I saw them on the road."
She understood what that meant — what the dust on his boots meant, what the dark splash across his right cuff meant — and her knees went. He came around the bar and caught her by the elbows before she hit the floor, and for a second there was just the smell of him, horse and gun oil and the particular sun-heated cotton of a man who'd ridden hard for two days to reach her.
"Let me see you," he said.
"I'm not hurt."
"Let me see you anyway."
He turned her under the light that came through the slats. He was not gentle and he was not rough. He was methodical the way he was about everything — the way he'd been about loading a pack mule, about the quiet work of taking her apart in a hotel room in Santa Fe last October, about every single thing he'd ever put his hands to. He lifted her chin with two fingers and looked at the split on her lip where Caldwell had hit her before she'd gotten the pistol out of the drawer, and something went through his face that she'd never once seen him let anyone else see.
"He touched you," Dave said.
"Once. I shot him for the second time."
"Good."
He kissed her then, over the body, in the broken light of a saloon whose owner was bleeding out at their feet, and she made a sound into his mouth that she would've been ashamed of anywhere else in the world. His hand went into her hair at the nape and closed. Not tight. Just there, the way his hand was always just there, the exact pressure that told her body it could stop bracing.
"Upstairs," he said against her mouth.
"There's a dead man on the floor, Dave."
"He'll keep."
She laughed — a wrecked, wet laugh — and he pulled her up the narrow stairs with his hand at the small of her back, the pistol forgotten on the bar, her skirt gathering dust from the risers. The room at the top of the stairs had been hers for three weeks. A brass bed. A washstand. A window looking out at the empty street where his horse stood hitched and patient in the sun.
He closed the door and turned the key.
"Come here."
She came. She'd spent three weeks in this godforsaken town waiting for him and two nights awake listening to a sick child cough in the room below hers — the barkeep's girl, Layla, the only good reason she'd hesitated at all before pulling the trigger on Caldwell — and now Dave was here and her hands would not stop shaking.
"Breathe, Virginia."
"I can't."
"Yes, you can."
He unbuttoned her blouse, one button at a time, his eyes never leaving her face. She felt every button like a small door coming open. When he got to her waist he slid the blouse off her shoulders and let it fall and then he just looked at her — her camisole damp at the collarbone with the day's heat, her breasts rising and falling too fast, the bruise already coming up purple on her jaw.
"God," he said, low. "I thought about you every mile."
"Tell me."
"In the saddle. In my bedroll. Thought about your mouth. Thought about what I was going to do to you when I got here."
"Do it."
He put his hand at her throat. Not squeezing — just holding, thumb at the pulse, the whole of his palm warm across the place where she lived. Her knees went again and he caught her against him with his other arm and walked her backward to the bed.
"Skirt off."
She fumbled at the buttons. He watched. When it pooled at her feet she stepped out of it in just her camisole and drawers and stockings, and he made a sound in his throat that she felt between her legs like a hand.
"Lie down."
"Dave—"
"Lie down, sweetpea."
She lay down. He unbuckled his gun belt and hung it on the bedpost within reach — even now, even here, the habit of a man who'd ridden through trouble to get to her — and then he came down over her on one knee and one hand and kissed her so deep she forgot the dead man downstairs and the child in the room below and the three weeks of sleeping in a strange bed with the door locked.
His mouth went down her throat. Down her sternum. He pulled the camisole up to her ribs and took one nipple between his teeth and she arched off the mattress with a cry she had to bite back because the walls in this place were paper.
"Quiet," he murmured against her skin. "Town's listening."
"Then make me quiet."
He looked up at her from her breast with his eyes gone dark and said, "That's my girl," and she felt that one in her stomach.
He put his hand over her mouth.
He kept it there while he worked her drawers down her legs, while he pushed her thighs open with his shoulders, while he lowered his mouth to her cunt with a patience that was almost cruel. The first touch of his tongue made her buck up off the bed and he pressed his palm harder across her lips and held her open with his other hand and licked into her slow, long, filthy, like a man who'd ridden two days for exactly this and was not going to be hurried.
She was wet. She'd been wet since she'd heard his boots on the boardwalk. She could hear it — the obscene soft sound of his mouth working her — and she could hear her own muffled whimpers against his hand, and she could hear, far away, a dog barking in the street, and the wrongness of all of it together — a dead man downstairs, a town holding its breath, and Dave's tongue on her clit — made something go molten in her.
He slid two fingers into her and curled them and she came apart, biting into the meat of his palm, shaking so hard the bedframe rattled against the wall.
He didn't stop. He worked her through it and past it, mouth steady, fingers steady, until she was pushing weakly at his head with her hand and laughing and crying at the same time, and only then did he come up off her and wipe his mouth on the back of his wrist and start on his own buttons.
"Get your shirt off," she said. "I want to see you."
He got his shirt off. The sunlight from the window cut across his chest and his shoulders and the pale place at his hip where the sun never touched him. He unbuttoned his trousers and pushed them down and his cock was hard and flushed dark and she reached for him before she'd thought about it, got her hand around him, and he inhaled sharp through his teeth.
"Sam."
"Come here. Come here."
He came. He fit his hips between hers and she guided him and he pushed into her slow, slow, slower than she wanted, inch by inch, watching her face the whole way down until he was deep and she was clenched around him and neither of them was breathing.
"There," he said quietly. "There you are."
"Don't stop. Don't you dare stop."
He didn't stop. He fucked her the way he did everything — unhurried, exact, attentive to every twitch of her body beneath him, his hand back over her mouth when she got loud, his other hand hooked under her knee to open her wider. The bed creaked. The afternoon light moved across the ceiling. Somewhere below them, the barkeep's dead brother-in-law was leaking into the floorboards, and she was going to have to explain that, and the sheriff was going to ride down from Prescott, and none of it mattered because Dave was inside her and his forehead was against hers and he was saying her name like a prayer he'd been saying for two days in the saddle.
"I thought he'd hurt you," he said into her hair. "I thought I'd come in and you'd be—"
"I'm here. I'm right here."
"I'd have killed the whole town, Virginia. I'd have burned it."
"I know you would."
She came around him with her teeth in his shoulder, and she felt him lose his rhythm, felt him grind deep and hold, felt the warm flood of him inside her as he shook apart over her with his face buried in her throat.
For a long time they didn't move.
The dog was still barking. The light had gone gold. Somewhere a chicken complained.
"We have to leave tonight," he said finally, against her collarbone.
"I know."
"There's a place. Out near my people. Nobody would find us."
"Virginia?"
"Virginia."
She laughed — really laughed, the first real one in a month — and turned her face into his bald head and kissed him there, and then kissed his temple, and then kissed the corner of his mouth where the salt of her was still on him.
"I have been trying to get out of this territory for a year," she said.
"I know you have, sweetpea."
"Layla. The little girl downstairs. She's sick. Her daddy's going to be — her daddy's going to be the one who finds him."
"We'll leave money. We'll leave a note. We can't fix it, Sam."
"I know."
He lifted his head and looked down at her. His hand came up and brushed the hair off her damp forehead, and the tenderness in it was obscene in its own way, after everything — more obscene than his mouth had been, more obscene than his hand across her lips.
"Two days," he said. "To the line."
"Then home."
"Then home."
She closed her eyes. She could feel him still inside her, softening, unwilling to withdraw. Outside, the dog had stopped barking. The town was waking up to what had happened in the saloon and nobody had come up the stairs yet and nobody was going to, not with his gun belt on the bedpost and his horse at the rail and the whole country knowing his name.
"Dave."
"Mm."
"Don't be late again."
"No, ma'am," he said, and she felt him smile against her temple. "Not ever again."
The sex shop on Speedway has that industrial fluorescence you only see in dentist offices and places that don't want you to get comfortable browsing. Monday afternoon, two days early, and Sam is standing in the lube aisle holding a bottle of something water-based and reading the back of it like it's a prospectus.
"You are not actually reading the ingredients," Dave says.
"I read everything." She turns the bottle. "You know this about me."
"I know this about you." He's standing close enough behind her that when she shifts her weight back she finds his chest, and then stays there, a breath too long, before she moves forward again. They flew in this morning. She picked him up from Tucson International at ten. They've been in the same air for six hours and there is a specific kind of hum happening under her skin that she has not successfully identified on any form of public transport or in any fitting room or in any restaurant booth or now here, under a buzzing fluorescent tube, next to a wall of silicone.
"Okay," she says, and drops the bottle into the red plastic basket he's holding. "Lube. Toy cleaner." She keeps walking. "The plug is in the bag at home."
"It is."
"So we don't need another one."
"We don't need another one."
"But."
"But," he agrees.
She laughs under her breath — that small, dry laugh — and touches the edge of a display like she's going to browse and instead just runs a finger along the shelf and doesn't look at him. "There's one called the Crescendo."
"I remember."
"It's around here somewhere."
"Find it."
She turns her head. Just her head, over her shoulder, the way she does when she wants to know exactly what he's doing with his face. He keeps his face very still. She finds it.
The box is matte black and absurdly expensive. She holds it at her hip and looks up at him and does not say anything, and he does not say anything, and a girl in a crop top pushes past them saying excuse me and they both say sorry at exactly the same time and still do not break the look.
"In the basket," he says quietly.
She puts it in the basket.
The drive back to her house takes eleven minutes. Neither of them talks. He has his hand on her thigh above the knee, not moving, just there, the weight of it, and by the time she pulls into the garage she is so wet she can feel it against the seam of her jeans, and she says, "Dave," like a question, and he says, "I know," and unbuckles his seatbelt and then hers.
Inside, Lexi gets two minutes of attention and a bully stick and banishment to the living room. Sam sets the paper bag from the shop on the kitchen island. Dave closes the door to the hallway. He does it slowly, deliberately, one hand flat against the wood, and when he turns around she is already watching him from across the counter with her hands braced on the granite behind her.
"Come here," he says.
She shakes her head once. Not refusal — a small, almost laughing shake, like she can't believe she's about to.
"Sam."
She comes here.
He takes her face in both hands when she's close enough and he doesn't kiss her yet. He looks at her. He looks at her for a long time, until her eyes go soft and her mouth goes slightly open, and then he kisses her, and she makes that sound — the specific one, low in her throat, that he's been hearing on the phone for two weeks and that is different in person because in person he can feel the vibration of it against his tongue.
Her hands are at his belt before he tells her to put them there. He catches her wrists.
"Slow down."
"I don't want to."
"I know you don't want to." He presses her wrists flat against his stomach. "Slow down anyway."
She breathes out. He can see her decide. It's the thing he has never stopped finding obscene — the moment she chooses to let him have it, the actual physical arrival of the decision in her shoulders.
"Okay," she says.
"Turn around."
She turns around. He lifts her shirt up and off over her head, kisses the back of her neck, unhooks her bra with one hand because he has had four years to learn how she is put together. He puts his mouth on her shoulder and his hand flat against her stomach and pushes her forward until her palms are on the island and her hair falls over the granite.
He undoes her jeans from behind. Pulls them down to mid-thigh. Her underwear — he already knows — is soaked through, a dark wet patch at the crotch that he presses his thumb against until she makes a sound and her knees lock.
"Look at this," he says.
"Dave."
"Look at this, Sam."
He drags her underwear down to meet the jeans. He puts his hand between her legs from behind and she's so wet his fingers slide without any friction at all, two of them, straight into her cunt, and she drops her forehead to the granite and says, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," into the stone.
"This is what you've been like."
"Yes."
"For two weeks."
"Yes."
"Tell me."
"Dave, please —"
"Tell me."
"I haven't been able to — I can't — every time I sit down I feel it, I feel how much I want you, I can't think, I —"
He curls his fingers inside her and she gasps and her hips jerk back onto his hand and he keeps them there with his other hand flat against her lower back.
"Stay."
She stays. She is shaking. He fucks her slowly with his fingers, two and then three, watching the wet drag of them in and out of her, watching the way her thighs tremble when he crooks them forward against the front wall of her, watching the slick running down the inside of her leg. His cock is so hard in his jeans it hurts and he is not going to do anything about it yet.
"On the floor."
"What?"
"Get on the floor. On your knees."
She goes down. The tile is cold. Her jeans are still around her thighs and she has to kick out of them, and her knee hits the cabinet, and she says "ow" and laughs and he laughs too, and the laughing doesn't break it, the laughing is part of it — this is the thing about them — the laughing has always been part of it.
He undoes his belt. She reaches up before he's finished and he lets her. She pulls his cock out and looks at it for a second and then looks up at him with her mouth already open and he says, "Jesus, Sam," because she has not even touched him yet and she is looking at him like she is starving.
"Please."
"Open."
She opens. He slides his cock into her mouth slowly, all the way, until she gags and her eyes water, and then back out, and in again, and she puts her hands on his thighs and takes him and takes him, and he holds the back of her head lightly, not pushing, just steering, and the sounds she makes around him are wet and desperate and he can see the spit pooling at the corners of her mouth and dripping down her chin.
"Good girl."
She whimpers around him. He feels it in his whole body.
He pulls out of her mouth before he gets anywhere close and she actually chases him forward on her knees, mouth still open, and he says, "No, no, up, up, come here," and pulls her to her feet and turns her around and bends her back over the island.
"Dave — the —"
"I know."
He pushes her chest flat to the granite. He lines up behind her. He rubs the head of his cock through the wet mess of her and she is saying something that isn't really words, and he pushes in, one long slow push, all the way, until his hips are against her ass and she is making a high thin sound into the stone.
"Oh my god."
"I know."
"Oh my god, Dave."
"I know, sweetpea. I know."
He holds still inside her for a second because if he doesn't he's going to come in thirty seconds like a teenager. She is so wet and so tight and so warm and she is squeezing around him in these small involuntary pulses and he puts his forehead down against her back and breathes.
"Move," she says. "Please. Please."
He moves.
It is not slow. It was going to be slow and it is not. He fucks her into the island and her hands scrabble on the granite for anything to hold onto and find nothing and she just takes it, braced on her forearms, her cheek pressed to the stone, making a sound on every thrust that is half his name and half nothing.
He reaches around and puts two fingers on her clit and she comes almost immediately — she comes hard, clamping down around him, her whole body seizing and then shaking, and he fucks her through it, fingers still working her, until she's sobbing a little, until she's saying too much, too much, and then not pulling away.
"One more."
"I can't —"
"One more. You can."
He pulls out and flips her onto her back on the island, lifts her legs up over his shoulders, and pushes back in, and this angle is deeper, and she throws her arm over her face and says "fuck, fuck, fuck" and he pulls her arm down because he wants to see her.
"Look at me."
She looks at him. Her eyes are wet. Her mouth is open. She is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen and he has seen her like this before and it is still true every time.
"I love you," she says. It comes out cracked.
"I love you."
"I'm gonna —"
"Come on. Come on, sweetpea, come on —"
She comes again, and he comes with her this time, finally, buried deep in her, shaking, his hand gripping her thigh hard enough to leave marks that will show tomorrow, and she is pulling him down onto her, onto her chest, the island edge biting into her back, not caring.
They stay there. He is still inside her. She is breathing against his temple. Somewhere in the living room Lexi sighs loudly, the put-upon sigh of a dog who has been waiting.
"Your back," he says eventually, muffled against her neck.
"I don't care."
"Your back, Sam."
"I know. I still don't care."
He laughs. He lifts her off the counter, still connected for one more second before he slips out of her, and she makes a small sad sound at the loss of him, and he carries her down the hall to her bedroom and lays her down on her side and curls in behind her, skin to skin, sticky and spent, and she reaches back and hooks her leg over his and pulls him in tighter — stage five, she said on the phone last week, and he remembers — and he presses his mouth to the back of her neck.
"Two days early," she says into the pillow.
"Couldn't wait."
"Good."
Outside, the Tucson afternoon keeps moving without them. Inside, she falls asleep against him in about four minutes, her breathing going long and even, and he stays awake a little longer just to feel it, just to have this — her, here, actually here — before he lets himself close his eyes.
